Every Family Matters: An In-Depth Review of Family Law in Britain

Posted 20th April 2020

The overarching aim of the Family Law Review is to develop policies which will increase stability and support and encourage commitment in relationships – especially marriage. The review learnt from Australia’s Family Relationship Centres who do not see post-separation parenting as primarily a legal issue and offer support at all stages of the relationship process. Their services include pre-marriage information, couple relationship education, services during any period of relationship difficulty, and support during and after separation. The Australian model could be applicable within the British context through Family Hubs to provide preventative support to reduce family breakdown and legal and non-legal guidance during separation.
